CHARLOTTESVILLE The six-foot square painting by Dan Dunn of Ray Charles created at halftime of the Virginia men’s basketball game against Clemson on Feb. 7 is available for auction online at VirginiaSports.com.

The Virginia athletics department periodically places specialty items and sports-related experiences for auction on its official website, VirginiaSports.com. The athletics department’s proceeds from each auction item benefits its Life Skills Program.

Founded in 1995, the Life Skills Program helps student-athletes develop their roles as students, athletes, and citizens by offering support in three areas:

Personal Development leadership skills, substance-abuse education, healthy living education, and public speaking.

Career Planning and Development resume writing, interviewing techniques, the identification of careers, and job-search techniques.

Community Service
encouragement of active participation by individuals, teams, and staff in local community projects.

The mission of the Life Skills Program is to facilitate the growth and well being of the total person and to inspire men and women to serve as leaders in their communities and make meaningful contributions to society.
