Miami Lake, FL The 23rd-ranked Virginia women’s golf team moved up one spot to fourth after the second round of play at the 12-team Qdoba Invitational at Don Shula’s Golf Club in Miami Lake, Fla. The Cavaliers shot 10-over 298 during the second round, a nine-stroke improvement over their first-round effort. Virginia’s stands at 605 after two rounds. East Carolina leads the field at 590, eight shots ahead of second-place Louisville.

Virginia freshman Joy Kim, playing as a non-scoring individual, is tied for fifth entering Tuesday’s final round at 5-over 149. She shot 75 Tuesday. Callen Nielson is in eight-place at 150. UVa’s Lene Krog, Jennie Arseneault and Whitney Neuhauser are all tied for 17th at 152. Arseneault and Neuhauser posted UVa’s best second-round scores, shooting 1-over 73. Kristen Simpson is in 45th place at 160 and Carly Truitt, also playing as an individual, is 54th at 163.

Miami’s Jessica Steward leads the field in stroke play at 1-under 143. She finished the second round with a three-stroke lead.

The final round of the tournament gets underway at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
