CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The Virginia baseball team looks to ride the momentum of six straight wins as it entertains Siena and Cornell this weekend in a three-team round robin at Davenport Field. Six total games will be played among the three teams. The complete schedule is listed below.

Virginia is 6-0 on the young season following a win over Coppin State Thursday night. The Cavaliers also scored a win Wednesday over Old Dominion. The 6-0 start is UVa’s first since the 1997 season.

The Cavalier pitching staff has been sensational thus far, allowing just four earned runs in six games while compiling a 0.75 earned run average. Batters are hitting just .163 against the Cavalier staff.

The bats have come alive as well, with Virginia recording 37 hits in the games against Old Dominion and Coppin State. Thursday, five players had three or more hits, as Corey Hunt (So., Charlottesville, Va.) went 4-for-4, while Dan Grovatt (Fr., Tabernacle, N.J.), John Barr (Fr., Ivyland, Pa.), Mark Riffee (So., Vienna, Va.) and Phil Gosselin (Fr., West Chester, Pa.) all had three hits.

Siena (0-3) was swept in a three-game series last weekend at Florida. Shortstop Chris Klepps paced the team with four hits in 10 at bats, while Moises Rivera had a homer and a team-best five RBI against the Gators.

Cornell will be seeing its first game action of 2008 after going 15-23 overall and 8-12 in the Ivy League last season. Eleven letterwinners, including seven position starters, return from the 2007 squad.

Virginia plays its first road game Tuesday, traveling to VMI for a 4 p.m. game.
