CHARLOTTESVILLE Friday’s top-five men’s tennis showdown between No. 1 Virginia and No. 5 Texas will be played indoors with action at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club slated for a 6 p.m. start. With Friday’s weather forecast calling for a high temperature of 48 degrees, conditions were not warm enough to play the match outdoors.

The Cavaliers (13-0) have been ranked No. 1 in the ITA Rankings each week this season. Two weeks ago, they won the first national championship in ACC men’s tennis history by taking the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle. Texas is 10-1 this season after a 6-1 victory over No. 19 Michigan Tuesday night in Austin. The Longhorns’ only loss came to Georgia in the quarterfinals of National Team Indoors.

Virginia has an all-time record of 20-1 on the Boyd Tinsley Courts at Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers’ only loss in the three-year history of the facility was a 4-3 loss to Texas in 2006 in the Longhorns’ last visit to Charlottesville.

On Saturday, the Cavaliers host another top 10 foe, No. 9 Baylor, at 2 p.m. A determination about the location of the Baylor match has not been made yet. Visit VirginiaSports.com for the latest information.
