Top-Ranked Cavaliers Conclude Regular Season at Home

CHARLOTTESVILLE The top-ranked Virginia men’s tennis team returns home this weekend for the final two regular season matches of the year. The Cavaliers host NC State Friday at 2 p.m. and Wake Forest Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches are slated for the Snyder Tennis Center, weather permitting.
Virginia enters the weekend with a 23-0 overall record and a 9-0 mark in the ACC. With a win on Friday against the Wolfpack, the Cavaliers would clinch the No. 1 seed for next week’s ACC Tournament and give them their fifth consecutive ACC regular season title. With two wins this week, Virginia would complete their second consecutive undefeated season in league play and their third in the past four years.
The Wolfpack enters the match looking to snap a three-match losing streak. NC State is 11- 11 overall this season and 4-5 in the ACC. Friday’s match will be broadcast online by ACC Select on an on demand basis only.
Wake Forest enters the weekend with an overall record of 15-8 and a 6-3 mark in the ACC. The Demon Deacons will visit Virginia Tech on Friday before traveling to Charlottesville for Sunday’s match.
Following Sunday’s match, the Cavalier senior class will be honored. Ted Angelinos (Athens, Greece), Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India), Andrew Downing (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) will be recognized for their contributions to Virginia tennis.
