UVa Men's Golfers Open in 10th Place at NC State

Wallace, NC – The Virginia men’s golf team is in 10th place after the opening round at NC State’s River Landing Intercollegiate. The Cavaliers shot 10-over 298 in a tightly-packed field. Florida State and Duke share the first-round lead at 4-under 284. Only eight shots separate the nine teams between sixth and 13th place.
Kyle Stough led UVa with an even-par 72 to stand 14th after the opening round. Greg Carlin posted a 74 and is 32nd while freshmen Will Collins and Amory Davis both shot 76 and stand 49th. Steven Rojas is 59th at 77.
North Carolina’s Kevin O’Connell and Wake Forest Webb Simpson both shot 5-under 67 to share the first round lead.
The second round of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday and the final round will take place Sunday. Live scoring links are available at VirginiaSports.com and Golfstat.com.
