CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia junior righthander Andrew Carraway (Marietta, Ga.) has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week following his performance Sunday at Maryland. It marks Carraway’s second league pitcher of the week honor this season, as he also earned the distinction Feb. 25. UVa has earned a league-high four pitcher of the week awards this season, with Pat McAnaney (Sr., Syracuse, N.Y.) winning the other two.

Carraway (3-2) pitched a career-high seven innings Sunday in an 11-4 win over Maryland which clinched a Cavaliers’ series sweep. He allowed just a run and six hits and did not walk a batter. Carraway struck out nine, falling one shy of his career high, which he set the previous week at Florida State. He retired the first 10 batters of the game and allowed just four baserunners past first base.

Carraway ranks third in the ACC in strikeouts (55) and sixth in earned run average (2.86). He is averaging 11.25 strikeouts and just 1.64 walks per nine innings.

No. 17 Virginia (29-9, 11-7 ACC) returns home Tuesday for a 5 p.m. matchup with No. 20 Coastal Carolina.
