Jennifer Cromwell is a sophomore on the No. 3-ranked Virginia rowing team. The Cavaliers were crowned ACC Champions for a school-record ninth-straight time last weekend in Clemson, S.C., and faced Ivy League foes No. 2 Yale and No. 12 Harvard this weekend in Derby, Conn.

Question: Talk about winning a ninth-straight ACC Championship and what it’s like being part of such a successful program.
Jennifer Cromwell:
Personally it’s such an honor to be part of the team that won for the ninth consecutive year and made history at UVa. I’m just so proud of the team and how everyone did. We all came together and we did it as a team, which was the most important part.

Question: How do your coaches keep you motivated and focused?
Cromwell:
They know how to work us hard, but they also create a healthy environment for us. They’re very encouraging and make us realize our potential.

Question: What is your favorite part of practice?
Cromwell:
When it’s a nice day, just being out on the water and being with the team. When we’re all working together and having fun.

Question: Do you have a least favorite part?
Cromwell:
The early mornings aren’t really my favorite!

Question: How early is early?
Cromwell:
When your alarm goes off at 4:45 a.m. to get to 6 a.m. practice!

Question: Is there anything people would be surprised to know about the UVa rowing team?
Cromwell:
Maybe how much we work. There are a lot of hours that go into it.

Question: Do you have a favorite Coach Sauer quote?
Cromwell:
“They’ll throw the kitchen sink at you!”

Question: What is your major and what are your career aspirations?
Cromwell:
Well I haven’t declared a major yet, but I hope to get into communications and deal with the sports side of that. Whether it’s being on or off television.
