Charlottesville, VA Virginia junior Conrad Von Borsig shot 68 during the first round of the Cavalier Classic to lead the field when play was suspended due to darkness. A weather delay forced the teams off the Birdwood Golf Course during the afternoon and as a result nine teams did not complete their first round of the 36-hole event.

The second round will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday and all teams will use their same first-round tee times for the final round. Teams still on the course when play was suspended will restart their first round at 9:30 a.m.

Von Borsig’s 68 marked the fourth time in his career he has finished with that score. Virginia senior Greg Carlin was one shot behind Von Borsig at 69 along with Longwood’s Scooter Buhrman and Princeton’s Evan Harmeling. Augusta State’s Keith Guest and Tarik Can and NC State’s Brad Revell each shot 70 to be among the leaders for the players who managed to complete their rounds.

Virginia’s other scores included a 72 by Will Collins, a 73 by Kyle Stough and a 76 by Steven Rojas. Henry Smart and Amory Davis, playing as individuals, did not complete their rounds.

Virginia shot 6-under 282 as a team, equaling its second lowest round this year. The Cavaliers turned in the best team score of the 12 squads who completed their rounds. August State was second at 287 followed by NC State at 291.
