CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia right-hander pitcher Andrew Carraway (Jr., Marietta, Ga.) has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine 2008 Academic All-District Baseball Team. Carraway, a first-team pick in District 3, is now on the ballot for the Academic All-America award.

District 3 consists of schools from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Carraway, a commerce major, sports a 3.56 grade point average. He also is a two-time recipient of ACC All-Academic Baseball Team laurels.

Carraway is 3-3 this season with a 3.42 earned run average. In 55.1 innings and 10 starts, he has allowed 26 runs (21 earned), 56 hits, and just nine walks while striking out 63. He ranks among the leaders in the ACC with 10.25 strikeouts per nine innings and has twice earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors this season.

Virginia, ranked No. 24 nationally, next plays at 6 p.m. Friday, as it takes on No. 2 North Carolina at Davenport Field.
