SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Andrew Jesien took third in the men’s 1500m run at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet in Swarthmore, Pa., Tuesday evening in a time of 3:43.69, qualifying him for the NCAA regional meet.

The mark is a personal-best for the junior and is currently the fastest time that an ACC runner has recorded this season. It is also the fastest time that a Cavalier has ran since Ray Weeden ran a 3:43.65 in 1999, placing Jesien fourth on Virginia’s all-time record list.

Jesien’s finish is currently ranked fifth among all East Region athletes, and he is one of 27 Cavaliers who have already qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships, set to take place May 30-31 in Tallahassee, Fla. This coming weekend, though, Virginia will travel to the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J. Events are scheduled to begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday.
