CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia women’s tennis team received the 2007-08 ACC Women’s Tennis Sportsmanship Award. The honor is presented annually to a team in each ACC with a vote from the league’s coaches.

It marks the first time that Virginia has won the award in women’s tennis since it was established in 2004.

Last season the team also had a strong performance in the classroom. The Cavaliers had a team GPA of 3.35 during the 2007-08 academic year.

The Cavaliers return seven players from last year’s squad and will be joined by four newcomers that were ranked the No. 6 incoming class by tennisrecruiting.net.
