Pinehurst, NC – Three Virginia representatives failed to advance at the 2008 U.S. Amateur Championships after 36 holes of stroke play that concluded Tuesday. UVa senior Conrad Von Borsig was 129th in the 315-player field with a two-day total of 6-over 148. He had rounds of 72 and 76 on the par-70 No. 2 and No. 4 Pinehurst courses. He missed the cut by three strokes.

Former Cavalier Greg Carlin, who graduated in 2008, posted the same scores as Von Borsig to also place 129th.

UVa assistant coach Jay Fisher was 209th overall at 11-over 151. He had scores of 79 and 72.

Robbie Fillmore of Provo, Utah was the top finisher in stroke play at 6-under 134. He was one of just nine players to finish stroke play under par.

Match play begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday’s final.
