CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia men’s tennis team announced its 2009 dual match schedule on Tuesday, which features 14 matches at home at either the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club or the Snyder Tennis Center. Of the Cavaliers’ 21 regular season matches, 14 are against 2008 NCAA Tournament teams, including five that reached the round of 16.

“We are looking forward to once again facing one of the most competitive schedules in the country,” said head coach Brian Boland. “I am confident that our players will rise to the challenge and we look forward to what should be another exciting year for the program. We led the country in attendance last year and we look forward to having those great fans come out and support us again in the coming year.”

The Cavaliers’ home schedule includes visits in the non-conference from traditional powers Illinois, Notre Dame, Kentucky and Boise State, along with in-state rival Old Dominion. In January, the Cavaliers will also host a regional qualifying tournament for a spot in the 2009 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, with Wisconsin, East Tennessee State and Arkansas joining Virginia in the field. ACC foes North Carolina, Duke, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Boston College also visit Charlottesville.

The non-conference schedule consists of road trips to Baylor, Texas and William & Mary. In ACC play, the Cavaliers will visit Miami, Florida State, NC State, and Wake Forest.
