Charlottesville, VA The 14th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team heads to Charleston, S.C. this weekend for the College of Charleston’s Cougar Classic. The 22-team tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,159-yard Yeamans Hall Club from Sunday, Sept. 14 to Tuesday, Sept. 16. Tee times start at 7:40 a.m. for the first two rounds. The final round will feature an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.

Virginia opened its season last week with a third-place finish at The Fall Preview. Jennie Arseneault was seventh overall at 1-over 217. Joy Kim, Calle Neilson and Whitney Neuhauser all tied for 21st at 223. Lene Krog, who did not compete last week due to an injury, rejoins the UVa lineup for this event. She was the team’s stroke leader in 2007-08.

The field for the tournament includes No. 10 Alabama, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Florida State, Furman, No. 9 Georgia, No. 13 Louisiana State, Maryland, Miami. Mississippi, Mississippi State, No. 20 North Carolina, N.C. State, UNC Greensboro, No. 22 Notre Dame, Richmond, South Carolina, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Tulane and Wisconsin.
