CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia men’s tennis team wrapped up play in their opening tournament of the 2008 fall season, the UVa Fall Invitational, with two singles and two doubles titles. The Cavaliers won both of the “A” singles flights along with the “A” and “B” doubles flights.

The two “A” flight singles finals featured matchups of Cavalier teammates. Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) took the A-1 singles title with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Cavalier first-year Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.). Lee Singer (Laguna, Niguel, Calif.) won the A-2 singles title, topping No. 2 seed Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 in the final.

The top-seeded team of Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Singh won the A doubles title with a 9-8 victory over No. 2 seeded Keziel Juneau and Sebastien Vidal of William & Mary in the final. In the B doubles final, the team of first-years David Nguyen (Columbia, Md.) and Reese Milner (Los Angeles, Calif.) topped Scott Myers and Walker Lyons of Davidson 9-8 for the title.
