Charlottesville, VA After a pair of top-four finishes in the first two tournaments of the season, the Virginia women’s golf team is ranked No. 9 in Golfweek’s first poll of the year. The Cavaliers were ranked No. 14 by the Golfweek staff in the publication’s preseason rankings.

The Cavaliers are the highest ranked ACC team in the standings. North Carolina is 14th followed by Duke at No. 15. Arizona State tops the poll followed in order by California, New Mexico, USC, Pepperdine, Georgia, Alabama and Louisville. Colorado rounds out the top-10.

Virginia opened the season with a third-place finish at The Fall Preview and was fourth at the Cougar Classic. UVa is 9-5 against top-25 teams and 19-5 against teams ranked in the polls top-50. The Cavaliers return to play Oct. 3-5 at North Carolina’s Lady Tar Heel Invitational.

Junior Whitney Neuhauser is ranked 20th in the individual standings. She was second at the Cougar Classic and finished 21st at the Fall Preview. Senior Jennie Arseneault figures 55th in the rankings following a No. 7 finish at The Fall Preview and a 32nd place result at the Cougar Classic.
