Shabaz/Inglot Win ITA National Indoors Backdraw

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Play at the 2008 ITA National Indoor Championships concluded Sunday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. On the final day, the finals of the main draw and back draw for both men and women in singles and doubles were held.

The Cavalier doubles team of Dominic Inglot (London, England) and Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) concluded their play Sunday with a victory over Michael Johnson and Monte Tucker of Auburn-Montgomery in the doubles back draw final. The Virginia duo won the match 6-2, 6-2 to post their third consecutive victory in the tournament.

In the main draw finals, Ohio State’s Bryan Koniecko and the Wake Forest team of Cory Parr and Steven Forman won the men’s singles and doubles titles respectively. Arkansas’ Aurelija Miseviciute and the Fresno State duo of Reneta Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova won the women’s titles.

The event concluded the Cavaliers’ fall season.
