CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia senior Dominic Inglot (London, England) was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week conference officials announced Tuesday. Inglot led Virginia to four wins last week as the fifth-ranked Cavaliers opened the season.

The Cavaliers opened the season with a 7-0 win at William & Mary on Tuesday. They followed that victory with three home wins over the weekend, downing No. 15 Illinois 6-1, No. 30 Notre Dame 7-0 and Belmont 5-2. On the week, No. 43 ranked Inglot defeated a pair of top-25 ranked singles players, defeating No. 23 Roy Kalmanovich of Illinois 6-1, 6-4 and No. 20 Brett Helgeson of Notre Dame 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. He also teamed with Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) for a 4-0 doubles record in the matches.

It is the first ACC Player of the Week honor of Inglot’s career and the first for a Cavalier this season.

This weekend the Cavaliers host an ITA National Team Indoor qualifying tournament at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers meet Arkansas in the first round on Friday at 6 p.m. after East Tennessee State and Wisconsin play at 2 p.m. The winners meet at 6 p.m. on Saturday with a consolation match at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
