CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 4 Virginia women’s lacrosse team heads to Baltimore, Md., for a contest against Loyola College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Live stats for the contest will be available at www.VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers enter the contest with a 1-0 record after defeating instate-rival Virginia Tech, 19-3, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game played on Wednesday in Klckner Stadium. Nine Cavaliers scored in the contest, including five with multiple goal performances.

Senior All-American Ashley McCulloch led the way with a career-high eight points, while freshman Josie Owen made the most of her collegiate debut, tallying three scores. Senior All-American Blair Weymouth contributed three goals and two assists, while redshirt junior Whit Hagerman had three goals and one assist. Junior Kaitlin Duff had two goals and two assists, while junior Marye Kellermann, sophomore Molly Millard and freshmen Julie Gardner and Bailey Fogarty each had a score.

Loyola brings a 1-0 record into the contest as well, after the Greyhounds defeated Stony Brook, 15-7, in their season opener. Grace Gavin scored five goals to lead all players, while Abby Rehfuss scored three. Ana Heneberry led Loyola with six caused turnovers and Tara Gardner had four groundballs. Mary Heneberry won four draw controls.

In the all-time series between the two schools, Virginia holds a 20-6-1 advantage. From 1981-2005, the two schools played every year, but have not faced since. The Cavaliers have won the past six contests and 20 of the last 23. When playing in Baltimore, the Cavaliers hold a 9-3 all-time record against the Greyhounds.

Following the weekend, Virginia will return home to host its second in-state rival in Richmond. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in Klckner Stadium.
