CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia track and field team heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., Friday to compete in the UNC Elite Meet. Events will begin at noon and conclude with the men’s 5k at 9:35 p.m. The meet will be webcast live on ACC Select.

The men’s and women’s hammer throw, shot put and discus will be located at UNC Finley Fields, while the javelin, long jump, triple jump, pole vault and high jump competitions will be at Fetzer Field. Belk Track will host all running events.

The Cavaliers will look to add to their 24 regional qualifiers this weekend. Already qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championships and leading the way is Adams Adbulrazaaq, who has met the regional mark in the 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay. He will be joined by Kevin Anding and All-American Brian Lee and Lance Roller in the relay.

Roller has also qualified in the 800m, while Virginia’s other dual qualifiers include senior All-American Yemi Ayeni (discus, shot put), Stephanie Garcia (steeple, 5k), Morgane Gay (800m, 1500m), Ayla Smith (100mH, 400mH) and Chidi Uche (100mH, 400mH).

In the 5k, Trey Miller has met the regional mark and has also provisionally qualified for NCAAs in the 10k. Ryan Collins and Lauretta Dezubay have also qualified in the 5k.

The Cavaliers have qualified a handful of performers in the 1500m, led by 2008 NCAA qualifier Andrew Jesien. All-Americans Emil Heineking and Sintayehu Taye, and Kevin Tschirhart will also compete in the event.

All-American Meikle Paschal has met the qualifying mark in the 400m, while Steve Finley, Andrew Mearns and Samantha Stafford have qualified in the steeplechase.

In field events, Amy Bilmanis, All-American Billie-Jo Grant and Caitlin Kelly will compete in the discus, while Meghan Briggs, Andrew Fahringer and Tara Karin have qualified in the javelin. Marcus Robinson met the mark in the triple jump.

Following this weekend, the Cavaliers will head to Princeton, N.J., for the ECAC/IC4A Championships on May 15-17.
