CHARLOTTESVILLEVirginia Sports Properties, the exclusive multi-media rights partner of the University of Virginia athletics department, has renewed its radio partnership with Clear Channel by reaching an agreement with WRVA-AM 1140 in Richmond. Under the agreement, WRVA-AM will continue as the radio broadcast home of Virginia athletics programming in Richmond for the next five years beginning with the 2009-10 athletics year.

“UVa athletics is of major interest throughout the state,” said Ruth Stoutermire, market manager for Clear Channel Richmond/Norfolk. “With one of the best signals in Virginia, 50,000-watt 1140 WRVA is proud to continue the tradition.”

WRVA-AM 1140 will continue to carry Virginia football and men’s basketball game broadcasts as well as the Cavalier Call-In coaches shows which air Monday evenings at 7 p.m. Additionally, approximately 10 Virginia women’s basketball games will air on either WRVA-AM 1140 or WRNL-AM 910, Clear Channel’s sports station in the Richmond market.

Virginia kicks off its 2009 football season at home on Sept. 5 against instate rival William & Mary.
