Try Rowing at UVa!!! No Experience Necessary!!!

New athletes always welcome.

Women’s rowing is a varsity sport at Virginia and every year we actively seek fit, athletic women regardless of previous rowing experience to join our team. Many athletes did not have the opportunity to row before college; you will be learning with other novices in the same situation. We travel with the rest of the varsity team and race other collegiate novices throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to learn something new, make some new friends, have fun and stay fit!

As a novice rower at UVa, you are part of the athletic department just like all the other varsity sport athletes. We practice both on and off the water – and have a beautiful boathouse and great indoor facilities! One of the women who won a gold medal with the Unites States’ rowing team at the 2008 Olympics, Lindsay Shoop, learned to row here at UVa!
