CHARLOTTESVILLE—The Virginia men’s basketball team’s participation in the Cancun Challenge during the 2009-10 season features two games in Mexico on Nov. 24-25. The games will be played at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun and because seating is very limited, all fans must book travel packages through Triple Crown Sports or a designated travel agency for admission to the games.

The Cancun Challenge is owned and produced by Triple Crown Sports. Triple Crown also organizes women’s college basketball tournaments in Cancun and coordinates the preseason and postseason Women’s NIT.

The Cancun Challenge features eight NCAA Division I teams including Cleveland State, Kentucky, Stanford, Virginia, Florida A&M, Oral Roberts, Rider and Sam Houston State.

Eight games will be played in the United States and eight games at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. The Cavaliers host Rider on Nov. 19 and Oral Roberts on Nov. 21 at John Paul Jones Arena. Cleveland State, Kentucky and Stanford also host two games in the United States before traveling to Mexico.

In Cancun, UVa plays Stanford and Cleveland State plays Kentucky on Nov. 24 with the winners and losers playing each other on Nov. 25. Also on Nov. 24, Rider plays Florida A&M and Oral Roberts meets Sam Houston State with the winners and losers playing on Nov. 25.

Starting times and television coverage for the games in Cancun will be released at a later date.
