CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team opens its season at home this weekend, playing host to the annual Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup. Campbell, North Carolina Central and Virginia Commonwealth will all visit Memorial Gymnasium for the two-day tournament. Live stats will be available for all matches.

Play will kickoff at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, with the Cavaliers taking the court for the first time at 1 p.m., vs. North Carolina Central. The Lady Eagles enter the tournament with a 1-3 record. This will mark the first meeting between the two teams.

In the nightcap, the Cavaliers will take on the Rams (4-0). Virginia holds a 19-12 advantage in the all-time record between the two schools. The last time the two programs met was in the 2008, when Virginia cruised to a 3-0 victory, extending its win streak to 12 consecutive matches over its in-state rival.

The Cavaliers will open play on Saturday against Campbell (4-0), at 3 p.m. Virginia leads Campbell, 1-0 all time. The lone meeting came on September 6, 2003, with the Cavaliers sweeping the Fighting Camels, 3-0 in the Jefferson Cup.

Since returning to a renovated Memorial Gymnasium in 2003, the Cavaliers have posted an overall record of 16-2 in the Jefferson Cup, and won four of the past six tournament titles.

Tickets
Virginia Volleyball season tickets for adults are $50, while youth, senior and faculty staff season tickets are $35. For a single match, general admission is $5. Youth, senior and staff general admission is $4 and group ticketing of 20 or more will be $3 per ticket.

Concession Stand
There will be a concession stand available at each of Virginia’s home matches this season. As a reminder, no outside food or drink will be allowed in the gymnasium.

Parking
Fans attending this weekend’s events can park for free on the weekend and after 5 p.m. on Friday at the new Culbreth Road Parking Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field.
