CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team, coming off a sweep of the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup, is looking to extend its winning streak at the Ameritas Players Challenge in Lincoln, Neb., this weekend. The Cavaliers will face a pair of top-10 nationally ranked opponents, No. 5 Nebraska and No. 8 UCLA, before concluding the tournament with a match against BYU.

Live stats will be available on VirginiaSports.com for all matches, while a live radio and video feed will be available for the Cavaliers’ match against Nebraska on Thursday evening.

Virginia (4-2) will open tournament play with its first-ever match against the Cornhuskers (5-1) at 8 p.m. ET Thursday. The match will also mark head coach Lee Maes’ return to Nebraska, where he was formerly an assistant coach.

On Friday, the Cavaliers will face No. 8 UCLA (5-1) at 5:30 p.m. ET, before concluding the tournament with a match against Brigham Young (4-3) at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday. Virginia and Brigham Young have never met on the court, while UCLA owns a 2-0 record over the Cavaliers in the all-time series.

This past weekend, tournament MVP Lauren Dickson and all-tournament team honorees AJ Cushman and Rachel Gray led the Cavaliers to 3-0 victories over NC Central and Campbell, and a 3-2 win over VCU for the tournament title.

After this weekend’s matches in Nebraska, Virginia will return home to host the Marriott Cavalier Invitational. Villanova, Albany and Virginia Tech will each travel to Charlottesville for the tournament.
