Dickson Named to Ameritas Players Challenge All-Tournament Team

LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior Lauren Dickson was named to the Ameritas Players Challenge All-Tournament Team as announced today at the conclusion of the No. 5 Nebraska vs. No. 8 UCLA match.
Dickson led the Virginia volleyball team to a 1-2 weekend, which saw the Cavaliers play No. 5 Nebraska in front of 4,115 fans – the largest crowd to ever watch a Virginia volleyball team play. The Cavaliers also picked up the program’s first-ever set win over a top-10 nationally ranked team, falling in four sets to No. 8 UCLA, before rebounding to defeat BYU, 3-1, on Saturday.
For the tournament, Dickson led Virginia with 36 kills, 30 digs and six blocks. She recorded a double-double in the Cavaliers’ win over BYU (16 kills, 13 digs) and had a career-high three solo blocks.
The Cavaliers will wrap up tournament play this weekend, playing host to the Marriott Cavalier Invitational in Memorial Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday. Virginia will open ACC play with a conference match against Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. The Cavaliers will then face Villanova and Albany on Saturday, at 1 p.m., and 7 p.m., respectively.
