GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior All-American Emil Heineking has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week for his performance at the Lou Onesty Invitational over the weekend.

Heineking won the individual title by almost a full minute (55:30), leading the Cavaliers to the team championship for the second-consecutive season. In becoming the third-consecutive Cavalier, and fifth all-time, to win the invitational title, the Chardon, Ohio, native finished the 8k course in 24:04.8 and eclipsed the previous meet record of 24:24.5 set by Liberty’s Josh McDougal in 2006.

The weekly honor marks the first for Heineking.

Virginia will next race on Saturday, Oct. 3, as the Cavaliers head to Fairfax, Va., to compete in the George Mason Invitational.
