UVa Golfers Finish First 36 Holes at Koch Intercollegiate in 4th Place

Tampa, FL – The 28th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in fourth place after the first 36 holes of play at the 15-team Gary Koch Intercollegiate taking place in Tampa. The Cavaliers turned in rounds of 6-under 282 and 9-under 279 for a first-day total of 15-under 561. Texas Tech leads the event at 550.
UVa was led by sophomore Ben Kohles who shot 6-under 138. Kohles had rounds of 68 and 70 on the par-72 Old Memorial Golf Club course. Kohles is tied for seventh place and is five shots behind tournament leader Seath Lauer of Florida State.
Will Collins and Kyle Stough are tied for 23rd at 3-under 141. Collins shot 71 and 70 while Stough posted a 74 in the morning and a team-best score of 67 in the afternoon. Amory Davis is in 27th place at 142 and Bruce Woodall is 60th at 148.
The final round takes place Sunday.
