UVa Women's Golfers Travel to Chapel Hill for Tar Heel Invitational

Charlottesville, VA – Hoping to get in its first full tournament this season, the 17th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team travels to Chapel Hill this week for the 34th annual Tar Heel Invitational October 9-11 at UNC Finley Golf Course, which features a par-72, 6,285-yard layout. Tee times begin at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday with teams starting off both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. There will be a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday.
The field of 18 teams includes No. 12 Alabama, No. 2 Auburn, No. 11 Denver, No. 14 Duke, East Carolina, No. 16 Florida State, Kent State, No. 26 Louisville, No. 4 Michigan State, No. 27 North Carolina, NC State, No. 20 South Carolina, No. 22 Tennessee, Texas A&M, UNC Wilmington, No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 24 Wake Forest.
Virginia is coming off a 12th-place finish at the rain-shortened Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate. Freshman Nicole Agnello led the Cavaliers with a 40th-place performance. She and fellow first year Brittany Altomare lead the team in stroke average at 73.75.
Virginia’s lineup for the Tar Heel Invitational will feature Agnello and Altomare along with Calle Nielson, Whitney Neuhauser and Lauren Greenlief. This will be Greenlief’s first collegiate competition.
Last year the Cavaliers finished fourth at the Tar Heel Invitational behind Jennie Arseneault’s 7th-place showing.
