CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team heads north this weekend to face ACC opponents Maryland and Boston College. The Cavaliers are set to face the Terrapins on Friday and the Eagles on Saturday. Both matches are slated to begin at 7 p.m. Live statistics will be available on VirginiaSports.com.

Coming off a tough weekend, the Cavaliers look to rebound from an 0-3 loss to Clemson and a 1-3 loss to Georgia Tech.

Virginia (7-13, 2-7 ACC) is led by sophomore Simone Asque, who is pacing the attack with 229 kills. Defensively, junior AJ Cushman leads the team with 252 digs and has landed 25 service aces, while freshman Jessica O’Shoney has blocked 33 attacks. Senior Tara Hester knocked down her 100th-career kill this past weekend and freshman Rachel Gray has dished out 642 assists this year.

Maryland (10-12, 2-7 ACC) is coming off an 0-2 week, falling to Florida State and Miami. The Terrapins are led by Maddi Lee’s 227 kills, while Taylor Jones has dished out 563 assists. Defensively, Sam Rosario has dug 325 attacks and Lisa Scott has blocked 93.

Boston College (11-9, 1-8 ACC) is also coming off an 0-2 week with losses to Miami and Florida State. Mollie Kolosky leads the attack with 240 kills. Krissy Mussenden has dished out 707 assists and Brennan Clark leads the defense with 330 digs.

In the all-time series with the two schools, Virginia trails Maryland, 18-33, while leading Boston College, 8-1. The Terrapins and Cavaliers have faced each other at least once a year since 1982, with Virginia currently riding a six-match win streak against Maryland. Against the Eagles, Virginia won the first six meetings, with Boston College’s only win coming in 2007.

Following this weekend, the Cavaliers will return to Charlottesville to face off against Florida State on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. Virginia will conclude the weekend with a noon clash against Miami on Sunday, Nov. 1.
