VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia men’s tennis team returned to action Thursday as the ITA Atlantic Regional began with first round singles and doubles. Three Cavaliers won their first round singles match and three doubles teams advanced to the round of 16.

Milo Johnson (Tulsa, Okla.) defeated Yan Levinski of George Washington 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. First-year Dino Dell’Orto (Hong Kong, China) won his first round match over Logan Bricker of UMBC, 6-2, 6-4. Fellow first-year Brian Fang (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over C.J. Williams of VCU. They advance to the second round to join eight Virginia players who were seeded and received a bye.

In doubles, the top three seeds were all Virginia teams and all three advanced to the round of 16 with a second round win after a bye. Top-seeded Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) edged brothers Filip and Kacper Rams of Temple 9-8. No. 2 seed Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) topped Allen Tsang and Fredi Voorman of UMBC 8-2. No. 3 seed Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) and Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) defeated Guanhau Chen and Taylor Cohen of Penn State 8-5.

The tournament continues Friday and runs through Sunday.
