CHARLOTTESVILLE – Former and current members of the Virginia tennis program will be in action next week as Charlottesville will host a stop of the ATP Challenger Tour. The Virginia National Bank Men’s Professional Tennis Championship will run from October 31 to November 8 at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

All five former Cavalier players currently competing professionally are entered in the tournament. Somdev Devvarman, the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Champion, will play professionally in Charlottesville for the first time at the event. He is joined in the field by Virginia alumni Ted Angelinos, Treat Huey, Dominic Inglot and Rylan Rizza. At least four current members of the Virginia tennis program will be in the qualifying draw, which begins Saturday.

The qualifying draw will be held at the club on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 31-Nov. 1). Admission for the qualifying matches is free. Main draw play begins Monday and will run through the final on Sunday. Admission for the main draw is $7 per day ($5 for BHSC members) or $49 for the entire week ($30 for BHSC members).
