GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior All-American Emil Heineking earned his second Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week honor this season after winning his first-ever ACC Individual Championship.

Heineking became the second male Cavalier to win an ACC Cross Country Championship, joining Ryan Foster who won last year’s title. Heineking has won all four of the meets he competed in this year.

The Chardon, Ohio native opened the season with a win at the Lou Onesty Invitational and followed that up with his second-consecutive victory at the George Mason Invitational. He then broke the course record at the Panorama Farms Invitational, leading seven runners across the line under the previous mark, before claiming the ACC individual title.

The weekly honor marks the second for Heineking this season and the second of his career.

Virginia will host the Cavalier Open this Friday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The men’s race will kick off at 4 p.m., with the women following at 4:45 p.m.
