CHARLOTTESVILLE – Cavalier fans are invited to the Virginia women’s basketball team’s practice on Nov. 7 at John Paul Jones Arena. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Cavalier fans can watch the women’s basketball team finish its practice session, get autographs from the team, participate in a shooting contest on the floor of the arena and enter for a chance to win prizes.

Virginia was picked to finish fourth in the preseason Atlantic Coast Conference poll and senior Monica Wright was selected as the ACC Preseason Player of the Year. Head coach Debbie Ryan looks to earn her 700th career win when the season begins on Nov. 13 at UMBC. The home opener in John Paul Jones Arena is Sunday, Nov. 15, vs. Manhattan.

On Sunday, Nov. 22, Virginia hosts Tennessee at 4 p.m. The UVa women’s basketball single-game attendance record is 11,174, set on the orginal Hot Dog Night in 1986. In an effort to set a new record, Hot Dog Day is back as all fans will receive a coupon for a Gwaltney hot dog and 12-ounce Pepsi.

Tickets for 2009-10 Virginia women’s basketball games are available through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office. Customers may purchase tickets by visiting VirginiaSports.com, by calling the Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 542-8821 or by visiting the Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
