CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s basketball team hosts Furman on Tuesday (Dec. 8) in John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is 7 p.m., and live statistics are available at VirginiaSports.com. Additionally, the game will be broadcast over the airwaves with Jay James, Myron Ripley and Larry Johnson calling the action.

Virginia (6-2) is coming off a 75-73 loss to James Madison on Sunday (Dec. 6). Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) led the Cavaliers with 31 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. In the backcourt with Wright, Ariana Moorer (Woodbridge, Va.) was one point shy of her career-high with 18 points vs. the Dukes. Telia McCall (Marietta, Ga.) added nine points and six rebounds, while Paulisha Kellum (Upper Marlboro, Md.) chipped in nine points and five rebounds.

Wright leads the team by averaging 19.3 points per game, followed by sophomore Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) with 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Furman (2-7) is coming off of a 69-56 loss at Chattanooga on Dec. 5. The Paladins are led by Lee Stephens with 13.8 ppg.

The Cavaliers have an 0-1 record vs. Furman all-time. The teams met on Dec. 16, 2002 in University Hall, and the Paladins came away with a 58-56 victory.

Following Tuesday’s contest, Virginia will have 11 days off of competition for final exams. The Cavaliers return to action on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Georgia. Tip-off is 2:30 p.m.
