Charlottesville, VA – Former Virginia women’s golfer Leah Wigger placed ninth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament (Q-School) to earn her 2010 LPGA Tour card. This year’s event concluded Monday at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Wigger, who is from Louisville, Ky., tied for ninth overall in the 140-player field by shooting 4-under 356 over the five-rounds of competition. She had rounds of 69, 73, 70, 72 and 72. The top 20 players earned their Tour cards.

Last year Wigger also advanced through Q-School to earn a spot on the LPGA tour, winning a four-person playoff for one of the final two qualifying spots.

Wigger played in 17 tournaments and earned just over $24,000. He best finish was a 39th-place showing at the Michelob ULTRA Open. In 2007 and 2008 she competed in 24 events on the Duramed Futures Tour where she recorded five top-10 finishes including a win at the American Systems Invitational.

A two-time All-American, Wigger graduated from Virginia in 2007.
