Virginia (10-3) is coming off of a 74-59 victory at Colorado on Saturday (Jan. 2), its third-consecutive victory. Senior guard and All-American Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) led the Cavaliers with 24 points, and in the process took sole possession of second place on Virginia’s all-time scoring list.

Wright enters Monday night’s game with 2,082 points and is chasing former Cavalier Dawn Staley’s scoring record (2,135 points in 131 games from 1989-1992). Wright needs 54 points to surpass Staley as Virginia’s all-time leading scorer.

Wright leads Virginia by averaging 21.2 points per game, which ranks second in the Atlantic Coast Conference and tied for 14th in the nation.

Whitny Edwards (Charlotte, N.C.) had a strong outing vs. the Buffaloes, connecting on three 3-pointers and scoring 14 points. She narrowly missed a double-double by also pulling down nine rebounds. Edwards is averaging 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the Cavaliers.

Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) is third on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game. The sophomore forward also averages 5.6 rebounds per game.

St. Bonaventure (12-2) lost in overtime to Lehigh in its last outing, 68-66 (Dec. 30). The Bonnies began the season on an 11-game win streak and are receiving votes in both national polls.

Dana Mitchell leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game. Head coach Jim Crowley is in his 10th season at St. Bonaventure and has compiled a 122-154 record.

This will be the first meeting in women’s basketball between Virginia and St. Bonaventure. The game also marks the last non-conference contest before the Cavaliers begin ACC play. UVa travels to Tallahassee, Fla., for a game vs. Florida State on Thursday (Jan. 7). Tip-off is 7 p.m.
