ATHENS, Ga. – Members of the Virginia men’s diving team continued competition with the 1-meter event Monday at the 2010 Georgia Diving Invitational. The invitational, which wraps up Tuesday, is being held at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

Senior Alex D’Ambrosio dove his way into the finals on the 1-meter board and finished 11th overall with a score of 272.85. His prelim score of 279.25 earned him a berth in the finals with the top 12 advancing. D’Ambrosio was one of only two divers from the ACC to final at the meet.

“I was pleased with how they did,” Rich MacDonald, Virginia diving coach, said. “Everyone was consistent. Sunday was a slow day, but hopefully we can carry this momentum to the final day tomorrow.”

Briggy Imbriglia placed 19th with a mark of 257.80, followed by teammates Nathan Parker (25th, 236.10) and Kevin Moore (34th, 213.10).

The third a final day of the Georgia Invitational concludes at 11 a.m. Tuesday with platform diving.
