CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia men’s tennis team has announced its captains for the 2010 spring season. Seniors Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) will lead the program this season.

“Houston and Lee have worked extremely hard over the past three years both on and off the court,” said head coach Brian Boland. “They lead by example and have used their experiences to develop into tremendous leaders. They take their responsibility as leaders seriously and have the full support of every player on the team. I have no doubt Houston and Lee will give everything of themselves to make their last semester as Cavaliers our best as a program.”

Both players enter the spring season ranked nationally in both singles and doubles. Singer is No. 28 in the singles rankings and No. 17 in doubles with Drew Courtney. Barrick is No. 58 in singles and is ranked twice in doubles, No. 5 with Sanam Singh and No. 25 with Michael Shabaz.

Virginia opens its spring season Monday when it hosts William & Mary at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
