GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia sophomore guard Sylven Landesberg was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s men’s basketball Co-Player of the Week on Monday (Jan. 18) for his play in Virginia’s victories over nationally ranked conference opponents Georgia Tech and Miami at John Paul Jones Arena last week. Landesberg shared the award with Trevor Booker of Clemson.

The 6-6 Landesberg, who is from Flushing, N.Y., scored 40 points and had eight rebounds in the two games. He also had eight assists, one blocked shot and one steal in 65 minutes of playing time.

In the Cavaliers’ 82-75 victory over then No. 20 Georgia Tech on Jan. 13, Landesberg scored a game-high 22 points and had six rebounds. He also had a team-leading five assists and one blocked shot in 34 minutes of action.

In Virginia’s 75-57 win over then No. 23 Miami on Jan. 16, Landesberg scored a game-high 18 points and had two rebounds. He also had three assists and one steal in 31 minutes of playing time.

Scott Wood of NC State was named the ACC’s Rookie of the Week.
