Women's Tennis Opens Season with Doubleheader Sunday

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia women’s tennis team begins its 2010 dual match season Sunday as it hosts a doubleheader at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The No. 26 Cavaliers play No. 33 Illinois at 10 a.m. and Richmond at 4 p.m.

The matches are the Cavaliers’ only two before travelling to Fresno, Calif. for next week’s ITA regional where they will attempt to qualify for next month’s ITA National Team Indoors.

Illinois (0-1) enters the match after falling at No. 11 Tennessee 4-3 in its season opener on Friday. Sunday’s match will be Richmond’s season opener.

Admission is free to all home Cavalier tennis matches.
