CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia track and field team will return to New York City this weekend to compete in the NYRR Saturday Night at The Armory III on Saturday, Feb. 13, while juniors Ryan Collins and Catherine White will head west to compete in the 5000m at the Husky Invitational on Friday, Feb. 12. Live results for both events can be found on VirginiaSports.com.

White will kick off competition this weekend, racing in the 5000m run at 10:10 p.m. ET at the Dempsey Indoor Track at the University of Washington on Friday evening, with Collins running at 11:30 p.m. ET. Events at the Armory on Saturday will run from 6-10 p.m.

In Virginia’s last trip to the Big Apple, two Cavaliers hit NCAA provisional qualifying marks, while Virginia claimed seven titles at the NYRR Saturday Night at The Armory II on Jan. 30. White ran the program’s second-fastest 3000m of all-time, a mark of 9:24.43 that provisionally qualified her for NCAAs, while sophomore Maureen Laffan won the shot put and bettered her provisional mark to 50′ 0″ – becoming just the fourth Cavalier to hit 50-feet in the shot put.

Other individual event winners include Collins (3000m – 8:08.71), junior Marcus Robinson (triple jump – 49′ 9.5″), sophomore Vincenzo Chiariello (weight throw – 60′ 3″) and freshman Whitney Rose (triple jump – 39′ 6″). Virginia also won both the men’s and women’s distance medley relay titles. Sophomore Meagan Gillespie, junior Lyndsay Harper, sophomore Tasia Potasinski and White combined for a time of 11:51.01, while the men’s team of freshman Brett Johnson, junior Adams Abdulrazaaq, sophomore Lance Roller and senior Alex Bowman finished in 9:56.52.

Three Cavaliers have provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships so far this season. In addition to White and Laffan, senior Stephanie Garcia ran the program’s seventh-fastest mile time of 4:45.73 to better the standard in that event.

This will be the final tune-up for the Cavaliers before heading to Blacksburg, Va., on Feb. 25-27 for the 2010 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
