RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 27 Virginia women’s tennis team had its five-match winning streak snapped Saturday with a 5-2 loss at No. 29 VCU. The Cavaliers fell to 8-3 on the season, while the Rams (11-2) won their eighth consecutive match.

Virginia fell behind early 1-0 as VCU swept the three doubles contests. In singles, the Rams clinched the match with straight set wins at the No. 3-6 positions. The Cavaliers recorded wins at the top two singles positions. Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) topped Ana Bara 7-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) rallied for a 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 win over Josefin Hjertquist at No. 1 singles.

Virginia continues its road trip on Monday as it visits No. 28 Marshall.
