Nielson Moves up to Third at Tiger/Wave Classic

New Orleans, LA – The No. 18 Virginia women’s golf team is in fifth place after 36 holes of play at the 23-team Tiger/Wave Golf Classic at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans. Virginia stands at 611 following a second-round score of 315. Auburn and LSU lead the field at 601. TCU is third at 603 and Alabama is fourth at 608.
Virginia’s Calle Nielson enters the final round in third place after shooting even par 72 Saturday. Her two day total is 1-over 145. Auburn’s Cydney Clanton and LSU’s Megan McChrystal share the lead at 144. Nielson was one of just six competitors in the 121-player field Saturday that managed to shoot par or better.
Three Cavaliers are tied for 40th overall at 156. That group includes Nicole Agnello, Brittany Altomare and Eleana Collins. Whitney Neuhauser is 65th at 160. Lauren Greenlief, playing as an individual, is in 119th place at 172.
