FULLERTON, Calif. – The Virginia softball team (13-10) fell 1-0 to Fresno State Friday as play continued at the Judi Garman Invitational in Fullerton, Calif.

The Bulldogs (18-10) scored their lone run of Cavalier starter Melanie Mitchell in the top of the fourth inning. Michelle Moses led off the stanza with a single to left and took second on a UVa error. She moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and came into score on Lisamarie Coronado’s RBI single to center.

Virginia and Fresno State each finished the game with three hits. Nicole Koren, Alison Pittman and Taylor Williams each had singles for the Orange and Blue.

Mitchell went the distance, tossing all seven innings. She finished with seven strikeouts.

Moses earned the win for Fresno State, also tossing all seven innings with six strikeouts and no walks.

Virginia will play two games Saturday in the Judi Garman Invitational. The Cavaliers face No. 8/11 Oklahoma at 9 a.m. PDT (12 p.m. EDT) and San Jose State at 11:15 a.m. PDT (2:15 p.m. EDT).
