CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Department of Athletics has announced it will add 300 General Admission seats at Davenport Field beginning with the Clemson series this weekend (March 26-28). The seating will remain in place for the remainder of the season.

The additional General Admission seating options will be located along the right-field line between the grandstand and visitor bullpen, in an area formerly used for standing room. Although this area was seldom used, the standing room only area allows for more patrons than bleacher seating. Therefore the facility’s capacity will be 3,540, down from the previous capacity of 3,600 but fans will have access to 300 additional seats.

Record-setting crowds filled Davenport Field last weekend to watch the top-ranked Cavaliers, as Virginia set a three-game series attendance record of 9,642 against Boston College. UVa has a strong schedule upcoming, including matchups against nationally ranked Clemson, Georgia Tech, Coastal Carolina, North Carolina and VMI, as well as ACC rival Virginia Tech, and demand for tickets has been the highest in program history.

“I’m ecstatic about the large crowds we had at Davenport Field last weekend,” Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor said. “In response to our fan support, I am excited our administration has decided to add an additional seating option for general admission ticket holders beginning this weekend. We need continued fan support for the rest of the season as it makes a difference in our players’ experience and performance on the field.”

Fans planning to attend games are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time online at VirginiaSports.com. The ticket booth and gates to Davenport Field open two hours prior to first pitch each day.

General admission seating is also available in the grandstand and left-field bleachers as well as on the grass hillside. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth (18 and under), seniors (60 and older) and faculty/staff (limit two per faculty/staff). Tickets can be ordered in person at the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium, by phone at (800) 542-8821 and online at VirginiaSports.com. Advance ticket sales online end four hours prior to the game.
