Charlottesville, VA – Virginia sophomore Ben Kohles, along with NC State’s Matt Hill and Wake Forest’s Lee Bedford have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Co-Golfers of the Month for March.

Kohles, a sophomore from Cary, N.C., opened the spring by winning his second event of the season, taking medalist honors at the Cleveland Classic Palmetto Intercollegiate. Kohles shot a 7-under-par 63 in the second round to tie Virginia’s single-round scoring record. He had two other top-15 finishes for the month of March including a 10th place showing at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational and 14th place finish at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.

Kohles became the first Cavalier to win two events in a single season since current PGA Tour member Steve Marino won a fall and spring event during the 2001-02 season. Following his win he moved into the top 10 of the individual rankings of both major college golf polls. Kohles was ranked No. 5 in the Golfstat standings and is ninth in the Golfweek poll. He has helped UVa to top-5 finish in all eight tournaments this year and has finished under par in seven of eight tournaments, including all three spring events. He currently leads the ACC in scoring (70.58) by almost a full stroke.

Hill, a junior from Brights Grove, Ontario, won his first tournament of the season by capturing medalist honors at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C. In three other tournaments played during the month of March, Hill placed in the Top 20 of two tournaments (John Hayt Collegiate and Schenkel E-Z-GO) and tied for 27th at the General Hackler. He is the 2009 NCAA individual championship.

Bedford, a sophomore from Cary, N.C. had a very consistent month of March, posting a pair of top-5s and finishing no worse than tied for 16th in any of the three events.
