CHARLOTTESVILLE – The top-ranked Virginia men’s tennis team will play its final regular season home matches of the year this weekend at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers host No. 47 NC State Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 18 Wake Forest and Hampton in a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The Cavaliers (27-1, 7-0 ACC) will look to make history during their final homestand of the season. Head coach Brian Boland enters the weekend with 228 career wins at Virginia, one shy of the school record of 229 set by Carl Rohmann (1936-40, 1946-63) and matched by Homer Richards (1976-89).

Virginia has won 54 consecutive matches against ACC competition, two shy of the conference record of 56 consecutive ACC wins set by Duke from 1997-2002. The Cavaliers could tie that record this weekend with wins over the Wolfpack and Demon Deacons. Wins in all three matches this weekend would give Virginia its fourth consecutive 30-win season.

Two Cavalier players also have a chance to reach a milestone this weekend. Senior Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) and junior Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) both enter the weekend with 99 career singles wins and are one win shy of joining Virginia’s 100-win club. Only five Cavaliers have reached the 100-win plateau: Somdev Devvarman (158), Treat Huey (129), Brian Vahaly (125), Rylan Rizza (123) and Darrin Cohen (100).

Admission for all home Virginia tennis matches is free and livestats will be available on VirginiaSports.com.
