Women's Tennis Hosts Georgia Tech and Clemson to Conclude Regular Season

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 31 Virginia women’s tennis team concludes the 2010 regular season this weekend as it hosts a pair of matches at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers host No. 25 Georgia Tech on Saturday at noon and No. 8 Clemson on Sunday at noon.
The Cavaliers (12-7, 5-4 ACC) enter the weekend one win shy of tying the school record for ACC wins in a season of six set in 2006. One more win will also give Virginia its first winning season in the conference since 2006. The Cavaliers have won their last two matches, after posting wins at NC State and Wake Forest last weekend.
In the latest ITA individual rankings, sophomore Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) is No. 44 in the singles rankings. The team of Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) is a season-high No. 38 in doubles, while the team of Hardenbergh and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) is No. 50.
Georgia Tech comes to Charlottesville with a 13-8 overall record and a 4-4 mark in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets are led by Irini Falconi, the nation’s No. 1 ranked singles player. Clemson enters the weekend with a 19-4 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the ACC. The Tigers have four ranked singles players, headlined by No. 19 Josipa Bek.
